Knife Washer and Sanitizer

The Knife Washer has been developed as a result of research and need within the food industry, for a machine that can solve the problems of sanitizing knives in a few seconds, rather than the more widely used methods of immersion or washing machines, which are both time consuming.

The Knife Washer is an indispensable tool in the meat processing industry, as it quickly sanitizes knives, avoiding cross-contamination. It is easy, quick, and efficient and can be used as often as required. The operator simply passes the blade of the knife through the machine slot. This cleans and sanitizes the blade. There is an optional further swipe of the blade to cool it down after sanitization.

The knife washer can be fixed to the edge of conveyor belts or work tables, to be readily available for the operative.

At the request of many companies and slaughterhouses, tests have been carried out to prove, through biological analysis, that it destroys bacteria.

Cleaning technique

The knife is placed in the steam head and may be given an initial cold rinse by pushing the black knob while drawing the knife through the steam heed. The waste products drop down the exhaust tube, the knife is re-inserted into the head and drawn through the steam jet which is activated by pushing the red button.

Over the last few years. the food industry has realized the potential of Steam Vapour Cleaning to assist in their hygiene regimes, to keep their machinery, walls, floors and ceilings clean, and free from bacteria and grease, The innovation of steam vapour cleaning is now keeping machinery and production lines running smoother and longer. thus keeping down times to a minimum, with profit going up.

This latest addition to the Saturno range is the Knife Washer. Designed specifically for the meat processing industry, this will sanitize a knife at the touch of a button, and eliminates the long time factor usually experienced with knife washing. A quick and efficient way to keep the knives clean, and enable the operative to avoid cross-contamination between products. It can be fixed to the work bench, within easy reach of the operative, and only needs a 240v electrical supply, and a water supply.

The Saturno has been helping industry achieve new standards of hygiene, for the last 10 years. The machines, ranging from 6kw to 36kw, are mobile using 3-phase 415v electricity. There is also a 72kw fixed system. The power of these machines will clean machinery, walls, floors and ceilings, with detergent injection to cut through grease, and a vacuum to dispose of any residue. Using very little water, they are environmentally friendly, and can save LU s on water consumption and labour. The heat of the steam will sanitize surfaces, killing bacteria, and the tooling of the Saturno will enable even the most awkward areas to be cleaned.

The Satumo range of equipment also includes Conveyor Cleaning Units, either simple bolt-on, or fully inbuilt systems. These can be used at the end of a production run, or for the more sophisticated unit, can be run continuously on the underside of the belt, ensuring that the product is always on a clean surface.
